The ultimate in taste and nutrition

I can’t believe I just ate that….
Some enterprising soul left four boxes of Veggie Milk Bars in a “fair game” area of our office kitchen. Flavors are Toasted Chocolate Almond, Chocolate Raspberry, Double Chocolate, and Peanut Butter Chocolate. When I went downstairs to refill my water glass, I grabbed a Toasted Chocolate Almond bar, as I was unsure what “the ultimate in taste and nutrition” actually tasted like.
The bar sat on my desk for at least 15 minutes before I finally had the nerve to open the wrapping labeled, “100% Vegetarian! Low fat! Cholesterol free! Lactose free!”
It wasn’t that bad at first. To twist and paraphrase Arthur Dent from HHGG, “It tastes almost, but not completely, unlike chocolate.” I suppose it is something you could grow adapted to if you are lactose-intolerant, a vegan, or a lactose-intolerant vegan. It just seemed like I needed a progressively larger drink of water with every bite I took of the pseudo-chocolate bar.
I think I’ll steer clear of vegan chocolate for a while.
