The Real World comes to Portland

Ooooh, the prestige of being a casting assistant for “perennial hit” The Real World. Didn’t that series jump the shark a decade ago? So funny that even potential crew members need to bring in headshots.

Anyway, looks like The Real World will be holding an open call for potential roommates on Tuesday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at City Sports Bar and Restaurant (424 SW 4th Avenue).
If you’re more interested in making $75/day to do crowd control for wannabe drama queens, check out the job posting and send your resume along.

UPDATE 12:37PM: Casting call details also seen here at Bunim / Murray Production site.
Willamette Week also mentions it in Murmurs, and apparently MTV has not confirmed whether the show will be taped here in the Rose City.

ah…..the beautiful casting assistant, always a handy accessory. phfft!
I still can’t believe they have the balls to call it “the Real World”.
    Howsabout “The Really Overdone Concept”.

  2. Jenn says:

The Real World. Where people stop being real, and start being boring. LOL.

  3. Greg says:

I swear….if they try and tape it here, I’m gathering a few of my drunken friends for a “Real World” hasslefest. God knows…they’d probably try to settle in the Pearl or NW PDX. All the more reason to fuck with them.
    It’s a readymade Cacophony Society hack-in-a-box!

Wouldn’t it be more fun if they did it in one of the lesser-developed neighborhoods on thr far east side? Follow the castmates as they try to score enough cold and flu medicine so they can cook m eth, or steal aluminum off of bridges they can sell to buy drugs. Maybe some run-in’s with the street ladies of 82nd, or a night out at The Taco House.
Here’s my open call for ideas: Due to the diverse range of neighborhoods in Portland, how would The Real World play out as set in different neighborhoods around the Metro area? Hawthorne, St. John’s, West Hills, Sellwood, Fremont, etc.
