Craft Night @ Nocturnal

My usual craft night girls and I decided to try a change of venue this week and met up at Nocturnal. Our usual gig at Touchstone coffee house is on Monday nights and involves caffeine, knitting, and in-depth conversation. Meeting at Nocturnal adds the options of a later night, cocktails, and smoke into the mix.

DJ Dickel spins wonderful retro tunes, charming Adrian works the bar, and a stash of free supplies is available to supplement your craft of choice. I’m happy to report that the lighting has improved greatly as well. When they first started holding craft night, you had to get there early in order to snag a table, much less a table with decent lighting, but now every table is adequately lit.

I’ve seen the crowd range from knitters to beaders to illustrators, and once a gal with an electric drill (never did figure out what her project was!) It’s a fun way to get creative and be social at the same time.

Since I didn’t have the attention span for knitting tonight, I created a highly decorative sheet of stationery instead. Star and heart shapes were embroidered into the corners, and I stitched a yarn and bead pattern around the border. Not bad for a spur of the moment project! If I can find the time, I might make more of these. This piece took about two hours to put together.
