Bunco Queen

One of my good friends invited me to play Bunco tonight. My parents and their friends have been playing regular games for ages, but I’ve never gotten a chance to play before tonight. It’s really fun!!!
The basics are that you roll dice to get certain numbers, and depending on whether you win or lose you switch tables. If you get three of a kind for what you’re supposed to be rolling for, you get to yell, “Bunco!!!” At the end of the night you tally up scores and prizes are awarded based on how well (or poorly) you did. With 24 losses (but two Buncos) I won the (very nice) booby prize for the evening, which was a lovely scented candle, a tin of jasmine tea, and two asian-styled mugs.
The group was ladies only, and there were lots of yummy snacks and desserts. The cool thing about this game is that you can play but also carry on a conversation at the same time. Plus, with the regular rotation of players between tables, it gives you a chance to get to know everybody.
I’ve been having a really rough week, and having a nice low-stress social evening like this was exactly what the doctor ordered. I love it that when you need it most, your friends and family really come through for you.

I’ve never played Bunco, but my mom has, and she’s told me how much fun it is. Glad your experience was the same. :)

Ahh…my little bunco princess! I’m glad that you finally got to play. It is fun, isn’t it? It just so happens that on Wednesday it is my turn to be the hostess for our group. It is our holiday event so we will have an ornament exchange as well. Some groups play for gifts, we play for $$$$$$
    Love, Mom
